Spend a fun morning learning the art of working with wire, to create your very own wire leaves garland, inspired by the falling autumn leaves with their wonderful variety of shapes and patterns.
Using pliers, snips and a variety of wires, you will go home with a seasonal home decoration to hang up every autumn, or even leave it hanging up all year round!

I’m teaming up again with Peter Lanyon in his barn workshop nestled between Battisborough Cross and Noss Mayo, to run a couple of childrens lampmaking workshops. This would make a brilliant Christmas present for a creative child who loves hands-on making. As you can see, the workshop we ran over the summer holidays produced some really creative lampshade designs, including one featuring woodworking tools, and one with cats chasing a mouse!

Join me at Make South West in Bovey Tracey on Thursday 28 August to create your own forever flowers.
You will use tissue paper, wire, pliers and snips to make a fabulous bunch of flowers which you can leave plain or decorate with pen. All materials will be provided.
There are two workshop timeslots to choose from:
10.30am – 12.00pm
2.00pm – 3.30pm
This workshop is for children aged 7+
We ask that all participating children are accompanied by a parent, carer or guardian throughout the workshop duration.
Please purchase tickets for participating children only. Accompanying adults do not need to purchase a ticket.

WHAT: Why not come along to this workshop to get yourself in a real Christmas festive mood at the start of the school Christmas school holidays. Make some handmade, recycled, upcycled festive bunting.
In this workshop, we will be designing and making some recycled aluminium bunting by embossing patterns onto pre cut shapes, using a selection of embossing tools along with recycled ones. You will string your finished shapes onto some festive string for you to hang up in your home.
This workshop is suitable for adults and children over 7. Any participating adults accompanying children will need to also purchase a place on the workshop. Word of warning, there will be sharp edges, so care needs to be taken!

Really simple… print some paper with nice colours and patterns, cover a little sketchbook with it and make a little expanding envelope, stick it in, smile, and voila! Now you have a special book to record all your musings, doodling, stick momentoes into…
A veryveryvery quiet workshop as everybody was away on holidays (though when you live in Devon, you don’t REALLY need to go away anywhere on holiday!)
This was my busiest workshop of the summer… I’m not sure how many people came but it was BUUUUSY, lots dropping in throughout the morning, this was another one run with Bovey help hub. I didn’t manage to get photos of everybody’s work, but what I’ve got images of here is great
I did little demos of how to do symmetrical printing, showed them where all the sequins, glue and collage bits were, then left them to it… again i absolutely LOVE what the kids came up with… I hope all these beautiful works of art have pride of place brightening up their homes around Bovey Tracey.
OK, so when I planned this session I hadn’t really thought through the noise that a room full of kids hammering nails into wooden blocks would make 😳
…. next time I’ll take earplugs 😆
BUT!!! Look at what they made! I’ve never had such a quiet, concentrated art club (after all the hammering) as this one, wow they worked sooo hard and the results are INCREDIBLE. First they painted their wooden blocks, then hammered in nails, strung up their wefts with wool, then got to work with weaving. I’m so impressed with how hard they worked on this one.
I’m absolutely delighted to be taking part in the fabulous Blue Magpie Contemporary Craft Fair again this coming weekend, Friday 19th, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st November 2021.

I’ve finally got round to updating my shop with new card designs as well as some CHRISTMAS cards!
Who doesn’t love to receive a super hand-written card through the post? If the past 20 months have taught us anything, it’s that the small things you do for people bring the biggest smiles and happiness. A card doesn’t cost much but it’s a brilliant way of sending a few words just to let someone know that you’re thinking of them. Far more personal than a text or Whats App message, this one will linger on a shelf maybe even for a few months (or often longer, if you’re in our house!) I don’t know about you but I spend ages choosing which image would suit which friend or relative.
All of this plus buying cards from designers, you’re helping to keep small businesses going. The #justacard campaign puts so clearly the message from a gallery who had recently closed down:
