Monday, August 11th, 2008

Over the August Bank Holiday (Saturday 23rd - Monday 25th) this year I’m taking part in the Hidden Art Design Fair at Godolphin House, near Helston. It is one of Cornwall’s oldest homes; a National Trust owned, grade one listed mansion (c1475. That’s old!) surrounded by rare & ancient gardens.

There will be contemporary Cornish design from over 100 designer-makers in the historic setting of Godolphin House & gardens.
Open 11am - 6pm daily (until 8pm Saturday)
Tickets £6, National Trust members £2. (includes entry to Godolphin House)

Wow! A friend of mine visited L.A. earlier on in the year & showed me some images of this place yesterday. They’ve totally jammed up lots of my head space since then. It’s a place called Watts Towers, in L.A., it was constructed by a man called Simon Rodia between 1921 & 1955. He built it all by himself out of steel & concrete, with no help & no scaffolding! The tallest tower is nearly 100 feet tall.

I love it so much. The shapes & colors & the doodley freeness of it really exites me. It’s like he’s drawn lines in the air with the steel & concrete, & coloured it in with ceramic fragments & glass. I absolutelly have to go there one day.

I have an exhibition on at the Architechture Center in Bristol (easy to find as it’s next door to the Arnolfini) of my recycled plastic jewellery. There is some brand new never-seen-before stuff aswell as some of my original best-selling pieces.

It’s on until the end of August.

So if you’re in the area, pop in & have a peep!
