Great big huge windchime

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

That’s what it seemed to be outside last night as I lay in my bed! Wow, it was windy & all the boats in the marina below the house were clanging like they were the biggest windchime in the world. I love that sound.

Drinking tea in bed…

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Aaaaah, this is something I haven’t done in AGES… Drink green tea with jasmine (& milk coz I’m a bit odd) in bed. I can hear the seagulls outside, the boats being rattled by the wind out there on the estuary, overnight I heard the curlews (one of my favorite sounds & I’m so lucky to be able to hear them from my bed!). The wind’s dashing about my skylights & its a wee bit damp out there - which is one reason why I’m still in bed instead of out there on my bike.

Last night my bedtime was fairly late as I went to see friends who had made me the most delishious dinner & we ended up nattering & drinking red wine for hours. Leigh has managed to organise a new ’stitch & bitch’ group here in Falmouth, which starts on Tuesday 13th November at Leaf cafe on Killigrew street, from 7-9pm. Can’t wait! Even though I really can’t knit & talk at the same time it’s just a great evening out to see what other creative people are up to in their knitting lives. Nick is extremely talented & you can see what he gets up to here: www.decorfilms.co.uk & here: www.nickduffy.co.uk & he also plays in the fantabulous band The Lilac Time. Clever cloggs that he is! & their daughter is just amazing, fullstop!

Another reason why I’m lounging in bed is because my beautiful cat Blue decided to stay in last night & basically slept on the whole of my bed, leaving me a tiny patch crushed up against the wall! Hrmph. But he’s lovely so I let him get away with it…

Right, more tea drinking to be done. Bye for now!

My move back to Cornwall

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Well, lots is new & I’ve managed to get myself back to Cornwall in the last week - ahhhhhhhh the sea! I’ve missed it so much. I may not have a permanent place to live but I managed to get myself a workshop straight away. It’s in the Old Grammar School building - lucky lucky me - its a really buzzy environment & there are lots of interesting creative people here doing amazing things. So a very inspiring place to be. & hooray, I have wireless broadband here! So as soon as I can work out what I’m doing wrong with trying to update my website, there will be new work up here. Technology isn’t my strongest point…..
Anyway. Today I’ve been to a very vibrant & interesting workshop on how to make your website work for you, & one of the 3 points I gave myself to do at the end of the day was to make use of my blog - which I can do, now I have internet connection! hooray.
I’ve allready made some new silver jewellery in my new workshop, inspired by my life-long obsession with rusty washers!!! The silver’s not rusty of course but I’ve been using the shapes - the different sizes of circles all interacting with each other. I’m going to try & get hold of this stuff you can buy which oxidizes

I may not have a permanent place to live but I managed to get myself a workshop straight away. The silver’s not rusty of course but I’ve been using the shapes - the different sizes of circles all interacting with each other. I’m going to try & get hold of this stuff you can buy which oxidizes the silver (makes it go black) so I can get more textures & patterns on the silver. & maybe I can start to draw on it & stuff…. ooh the possibillities will open themselves up…..
I’m going to try & upload a picture of one of my new ”rusty (but not rusty) washer jewellery. Here goes.
