Last week I spent time at the Devon Weavers Workshop, creating a wonderful silk & wool mix soft scarf.

It was so wonderful & inspiring to do something COMPLETELY new & different!

All the other people on the course were lovely and so were the fabulous members of the DWW; many of them popped in throughout the course to lend a hand. They sorted out technical ‘stuff’, gave their much respected opinions on design & colours, and made endless cups of (very welcome) tea & coffee & offered out biscuits!

I never knew weaving was so technical – and so much maths! The last time I wove anything, it was around a piece of cardboard at the age of about 10! The course I did was for beginners and the aim was to have made a beautiful scarf by the end.

wooden birds

Last weekend while it was still sunny, I spent a couple of days outside making these bright wooden birds, to stand up in the garden amongst plants, or they could be on their own in the lawn to brighten things up if you haven’t got any flowers.
They can be left outside in all weathers which is good as we are now having monsoon-like rain.

South West Contemporary Art Fair 2010.

This year is absolutelly flying by, and suddenly, the South West Contemporary Art Fair, (SWCAF) which I signed up for nearly a year ago, is only a week away!
This year it is being held at the Civic Hall in Totnes, on Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th October, from 10:30 – 5 both days.

This is the first time I’ve done anything like this before with my pictures (I know from doing various shows with my jewellry & textiles how exhausting they are!!!) so am a little bit nervous, but very much looking forward to meeting lots of people.
